Here's some photos of Skeill House as promised. The dinner service was Captain Cook, he had it on the Endeavour on his trip to Oz. The royal signature is the Queen mums from when she had high tea there in the 60's. Check out the eyewatering bathroom!!!
I visited the Italian Chapel which was builtbin a Nissan hut by WWII Italian POW's, I can't tell you the story without becoming emotional, so I'll just give you the photos and let you read the book when I get home.
Driving around Orkney I crossed the 4 Churchill Barriers which were completed during WWII they create barriers between the islands which were designed to stop German U boats entering Scapa Flow, which was important as the islands were an entry point t into the UK. The barriers have actually changed the way of life on the islands as they provide a causeway that allows road travel between the islands, unlike Shetland where you need to catch ferries.
Then I decided to go for a paddle, so here I am wetting my boots on the most Southerly point of Scala Flow.
So now to Shetland which will be my next blog.
