Ambleside

 Hello from Ambleside

Well, where do I start, I have had an amazing weekend with the family, culminating in placing dads ashes into his parents grave. Yes folks, cousin Tony knew that the top on our grandparents grave was in 3 parts so he lifted the foot section and we all scattered some ashes into the grave while cousin Jo read the words that Lexi wrote and then Tony pushed the top back down. We did it quite openly, I was angry enough to tell the vicar to get stuffed if he came out and asked us what we were doing!!!

Tony took us around the family graves even my Aunt Phoebe's unmarked grave, she only lived a few hours, but was baptised so she was able to be buried in the Churchyard.  Afterwards we all headed to the Change of Horses for a buffet lunch and family catch up which was amazing I connected with cousins, 2nd cousins, 3rd cousins and all the members of our far flung and incredible family.  Mick, Sue, Jo & I were still there at 6pm, and then we went back to Jo's for a cuppa and more chats, I finally got back to the bnb at 11 o'clock!!  It was a wonderful, if overwhelming day and I can't thank Mick & Sue enough for organising it.

Today, I left Swanley and did the 6 hour drive to the lake district. I had an airbnb booked in Little Langdale. When I got there it was really isolated down a track that challenged both the car and my driving, now you all know not much worries me, but when I got there and there was no one there I just had  bad feeling about the place,so I retraced my steps back to Ambleside and booked into a hotel and cancelled the airbnb. Airbnb gave me a refund so I have decided to just stay 2 nights in Ambleside and stop overnight on the way to Fort William.

So right at the moment I'm sitting in the Ambleside Inn, I've just finished a plate of very nice seafood linguine and I'm sipping on a pint of guiness.

Tomorrow I'm going to do some walking and sightseeing, the fells are incredible and Lake Windemere is sparkling in the sunshine.  I do miss you all, but I'm glad I came.

Take care and I'll have some lakes photos tomorrow.
