Swanley Update

Well it's 10.30am Sunday and I'm just about to head out, pick up cousin Jo, and head to Farnborough to meet the rest of the family and scatter dads ashes.

The last 2 days have been spent driving around Kent and the High Weald revisiting old memories.

I have laughed and cried been overwhelmed by memories, both good and bad, I drove down Shire Lane where I used to ride my pony, well today you would be taking your life in your hands to walk up it, there is sooo much traffic its scary.

Having said that, I spent a couple of hours at Bayham Abbey, the Abbey dates back to the early 13th century, and has an amazing history,  in 1525, bloody old Cardinal Wolsey dissolved it and kicked the Canons out and tried to put his mates in there.  The locals were not amused as the Canons were well liked in the area. Unfortunately they couldn't stop him.

I also spent a few hours at Knole House, which has the only remaining deer park with the wild deer ranging right across the 1000 acres of the park.  We used to take a picnic lunch and spend time there when I was a kid  just drive in, now its by ticket with parking costing £6 about $11.  But I met some lovely people and quite a few pooches.

Here's some photos and I'll blog again  later.
